Pilot Course: Inadvertent IMC and Helicopter Upset Recovery
With 8 hours of procedural and theoretical training, pilots will have comprehensive knowledge of IIMC, Upset Recovery, and a thorough understanding of the avoidance techniques. We use our Flight Simulation Training Device to assist pilots in safely recognizing and avoiding the onset of IIMC. They will also learn and practice techniques to safely recover from IIMC and Unusual Attitudes
Technical Course: Composite Repair
This 1-week course provides training on the description, function, and standard repairs of composite materials for all Bell helicopter models. Classroom or shop work includes the following: composite safety, shop tools, repair materials, inspection methods, damage evaluation, and repair procedures.

Dr. Stephen Van Kirk Friedman is a distinguished emergency physician and senior aviation medical examiner with over 20 years of hands-on experience in critical care and aviation medicine. HIMS trained and deeply committed to pilot safety and well-being, he specializes in conducting comprehensive medical evaluations that uphold the highest standards of aviation health. Beyond the emergency room and exam room, Dr. Friedman is a commercial helicopter pilot holding both ATP and CFI credentials, merging medical expertise with real-world aviation knowledge. His dedication to public service extends to his previous roles as a police officer, firefighter, and paramedic, bringing a unique perspective on crisis management, emergency response, and public safety. This diverse background allows him to approach every situation with a rare blend of medical precision, operational insight, and front-line experience. Dr. Friedman’s multifaceted career highlights his unwavering commitment to saving lives, advancing safety in high-stakes environments, and mentoring the next generation of first responders and aviators.
